Origen survive Tough Mudder challenge
Origen have always been big supporters of charity. This year, a staff member suggested we enrol a team in "Tough Mudder" to raise money for some worthwhile causes... At first we thought would anyone be willing to do it? Then we reminded ourselves that this is Origen and we like a challenge!
So on Saturday 24 September 2016, Origen sent a team of five brave soldiers Emma Fullerton and Beth Wright (Compliance), Kelly Freeman (Central Services), Neil May (Infrastructure) and Graham Vass (Retirement Services) to run/walk/climb and jump through 10 miles of mud, ice and electricity overcoming obstacles built to test the teams mental grit, camaraderie and physical fitness.
“We swam through iced water, jumped into muddy trenches, crawled under barbed wire and were electrocuted. We finished wet, muddy, bruised and exhausted however I thoroughly enjoyed it and had such a good laugh along the way” Emma Fullerton - Compliance
“It was both awesome and awful! I am so proud of my team, who were utterly fearless. In fact I would be more than happy to do it again next year!” Beth Wright - Compliance
“I am so glad that Origen gave me the opportunity to take part, although as it says ‘tough’ it was so much fun! Crawling and climbing through mud doesn’t sound appealing but once you’re in, you’re in so you might as well enjoy it! Really great team, really proud of myself and them for doing it and will 100% do it again”! Kelly Freeman – Central Services
The dedication and determination of the team was all in the name of charity, to raise awareness and support Childlife.
Childlife was established in 1992 as a fundraising partnership between four charities, Accorns, Ataxia, The National Children’s Bureau and The National Deaf Society. Based in Farnborough, Childlife works with children and young people throughout the UK, who are facing challenges in their lives due to illness, disability or social circumstances. Childlife helps to improve these young people’s lives by raising funds for the work of its four charities.
The Tough Mudder challenge emphasizes teamwork and personal strength, accomplishing something truly phenomenal and something that all five of the Origen Team should be proud of.
